The free bird leaps on the back of the wind and floats downstream (going to an unknown place) till the current ends and dips his wings in the orange sun rays and dares to claim the sky. (Imagery, trying to get hold of something from the sky)
But a bird that stalks down his narrow cage (not can seldom see through his bars of rage his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing.
The caged bird sings with fearful thrill (fear) of the things unknown but longed for still and his tune is heard on the distance hill (willing from a cell) for the caged bird sings of freedom (waiting to be free)
The free bird thinks of another breeze (misunderstood the message) an the trade winds soft through the sighing trees and the fat worms waiting on dawn-bright lawn and he names the sky his own. (Claiming something from the sky)
But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams (nights that won't be gone) his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream his wings are clipped and his feet are tied (being held a prisoner) so he opens his throat to sing
The caged bird sings with fearful thrill (afraid) of the things unknown (not answered to the question that are asked) but longed for still and his tune is heard (wants someone to free the bird to the open air) on the distance hill for the caged bird sings of freedom. (wants to be liberated)
Rating:*** Analysis:
In this poem, "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings", the overall mood of this poem is hopefully free because the speaker describes that the bird is being held back while the other bird is having all of the freedom, which it is unfair. All birds should have the freedom that it deserves. The general idea that I've got from this poem is that freedom is not free as they all say. Sometimes, there is no freedom and this poem is the perfect example that shows that there is no freedom.
In the poem, the caged bird is held by the wings and the feet, waiting to be liberated. The caged bird symbolized that there is no freedom. In the poem, the speaker stated, "Can seldom see through/his bare of rage/his wings are clipped and/his feet are tied." It clearly showed that this bird has been caged for a long time and it needed its freedom, sooner or later.
The free bird has its own freedom, in which it didn't have to worry as much as the other bird who is in the cage, stuck with chains. In the poem, the speaker stated, "The free bird leaps/on the back of the wind/and floats downstream/till the current ends." In this part of the poem, it showed that this bird had taken all of the freedom that was necessary, causing the other bird to be caged up and waiting to be liberated . The diction was well used in the poem by describing the area of the birds, causing imagery, and that's a good thing bec
